
Security issues, both land and maritime affecting the Dominican Republic, Jamaica and Haiti will be better dealt with through the collaboration of the European Union. The European Community has provided €5.0 million under a “Program of Multi-Country Border Security for Haiti, Jaimaica and the Dominican Republic” as part of Cariforum platform that unites the region. The program is organizing the exchange of information across borders and technical support from the European Union.
According to the International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Economy, the exchange of information will enhance regional security, increase investigation capacities, and carry out joint operations to combat crime across borders.
