Ministry of Culture invites to arts and crafts fair

Ministry of Culture announces the traditional National Arts & Crafts Fair (Fenart) will be held from 17 to 20 December 2020 on the grounds of the Ozama Fortress in the Colonial City. Around 100 artisans from all around the country are expected to participate. There will be items crafted in gold, silver and precious and semi-precious stones, woodwork, petrified stone, ceramics, clay, natural fibers and recycled materials, and more.

Richardson Díaz, Promotion and Development of Cultural Industries director for the Ministry of Culture, said the fair will be carried out under a strict protocol of security measures approved by the Ministry of Public Health for the prevention of Covid-19.

During the event, the National Craftsmanship Award will be given to one of artisans for a piece on exhibit. There also will be prize money — first place RD$100,000, second place RD$80,000 and RD$60,000 for the third place. There will be awards for serial production pieces for RD$75,000, RD$50,000 and RD$35,000, and a special prize for recycling with RD$25,000 in each category.
