
Travel has picked up at Dominican airports. Thousands of Dominicans are traveling and more people are arriving. Airports are meeting the challenge of Covid-19 health protocols in peak travel times. The Tourism Cabinet met and agreed on a series of measures taken to ensure Dominican and foreign travelers’ safety during the peak time of the Christmas holidays. Public Health Minister Plutarco Arias said the measures to keep the health of the Dominican people and the tourists.
Tourism Minister David Collado says that 160,000 persons have arrived with foreign passports this month. He said the new measures are to ensure the health of Dominicans and the safety of all travelers and airport staff.
There will be restrictions in the numbers of persons allowed to receive arriving passengers at the airport. Military will be limiting to two persons (driver and passenger) per vehicle travel on the Las Americas Airport Route 66 entry road. There are restrictions on the use of cell phones in the migration and customs areas of the terminals.
Las Americas International is adding two more parking payment machines to expedite the payment of parking. The time to pay parking is increased to 45 minutes from 15 minutes.
All airports are increasing migration and security staff to keep physical distancing at the airports and expedite arrivals and departures.
Random testing will continue for arrivals to the Las Americas, Punta Cana, Santiago, and Puerto Plata international airports that receive the most travelers.
