The Office of Permanent Attention of the Judicial District of Valverde imposed three months preventive custody to the two police agents that are accused of killing Air Force pilot Colonel Ramon Israel Rodriguez Cruz. The incident is confusing.

Judge Yarixa Alexandra Cabral de la Cruz accepted the request made by the Justice Department against police corporal Rafael de Jesús Díaz Gómez and sergeant Librado Recio Solís.

A military commission headed by General Mauricio Ludovino Fernández García, inspector general of the Dominican Air Force, participated in the virtual hearing to support the deceased’s family. The family suspects their relative was murdered and that the police agents were ordered to carry out the killing.

Fernández García described Rodríguez Cruz as a valuable and correct officer. With his death, the Air Force loses an important member.

“We came to support the family. We bet on justice and that due process is taken as it is and that the investigations lead to something positive and give him the satisfaction that the people expect,” said the general.

The killing occurred on 24 December when the deceased was visiting family and friends in Boruco in Guatapanal, Valverde province. He leaves two orphan girls, ten and nine years old.
