New law authorizes emergency procedures to buy vaccines

President Luis Abinader signed Law 6-21 to legalize procurement procedures to purchase vaccines during a pandemic. The law amends Art. 6 of Procurement Law 340-06.

The new law establishes that in the case of a declared epidemic, and within the framework of a National State of Emergency, vaccines’ import is not subject to the regulations in Law 340-06.

Law 6-21 establishes that the Procurement Agency is in charge of preparing policies and guidelines to guarantee vaccines’ acquisition efficiency and transparency.
