The Ministry of Foreign Relations published the guidelines for Venezuelans with irregular status in the Dominican Republic to regularize their residence here. The Ministry of Foreign Relations is allowing Venezuelans to file paperwork here instead of in their home country. It is also allowing expired passports to be presented for the request for the temporary regularized status.
The new regulatory status is authorized for students and others that will be granted temporary working status. The measure enables thousands of Venezuelans that are here working illegally to regularize their status.
The Ministry of Interior and Police issued resolution 119-21 on Friday, 22 January 2021 that normalizes within the category of non-resident the irregular migratory situation of Venezuelan nationals in Dominican territory.
The resolution in its article two indicates that Venezuelan nationals who entered Dominican territory using a tourist card or visa issued by Dominican authorities and who have remained in the national territory beyond the authorized validity, may be beneficiaries of an extension of stay.
The resolution grants a term of 30 calendar days so that Venezuelans interested in benefiting from this extension may register their data in a form available in a section for Venezuelans opened on the Migration Agency website.
