PRSC distances itself from vandalism in Congress

The secretary of organization of the Social Christian Reformist Party (PRSC), José Balaguer, said on Thursday, 11 February 2021 that the party disassociates itself from the disorders that have been staged in front of the National Congress. PRSC deputy Pedro Botello led a crowd of protesters who resorted to vandalism to press for the passing of a bill by the Senate to allow workers to access 30% of their savings in pension funds. The bill had already passed in the Chamber of Deputies. The spokesperson for the PRSC party says it disapproves of the violent actions.

“The PRSC disapproves of the vandalism that the claims of 30% of the AFP have turned into, even going so far as to destroy windows of offices of several senators,” the secretary of organization of the party wrote in his Twitter account. Balaguer said that these unacceptable actions have been condemned by all of society.

“In these violent demonstrations the lives of many people are put at risk, so we are totally against them,” he said.

Deputy Botello has also threatened to bring millions of protesters and interrupt the nation’s annual state address by the President at the National Congress on 27 February 2021.

Congress has yet to take disciplinary actions against deputy Botello.
