People need to be home by 10pm on Good Friday

The public health authorities decided not to chance that the Easter Week holiday, traditionally the peak domestic travel time, impact the spread of Covid-19 in the Dominican Republic. The authorities expect increased mobility and people gathering of Dominicans for the popular holiday.

The Presidency issued Decree 171-21 that extends the curfew on Good Friday. Starting on Good Friday, 2 April Saturday, 3 April and Resurrection Sunday, 4 April 2021, the curfew begins at 7pm and ends at 5am with free transit for three hours. That is everyone needs to be where they will spend the evening by 10pm. Previously, the Friday curfew was at midnight.

The decree also prohibits the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages in public places on 2, 3 and 4 April. The prohibition does not affect hotels and restaurants in resorts that fall under a relaxed Covid-19 tourism protocol.

Otherwise, the same preventive measures established in Decree 133-21 continue. As of Thursday, 18 March and through 15 April, the measures are the same with the exception of 2, 3 and 4 April. That is Monday to Friday, curfew is from 9pm to 5am and Saturday and Sunday, from 7pm to 5am, with three-hour free transit.
