Violent taxi driver allowed to post RD$100,000 bail after arrest

The unionized taxi driver who rammed into a Uber taxi in Bavaro got off easy. El Nuevo Diario reports that cab driver Juan Felix Calderon was released on a bail of RD$100,000 and the requirement of showing up at the Higuey court once a week. Last week, Calderon intercepted and crashed a Uber vehicle when the later was transporting three tourists.

El Nuevo Diaro reports that the court did not address the damages the union cab caused to the Uber driver’s car nor did it determine responsibilities in terms of measures to be taken by the union to which the driver belongs.
