More civil registry offices to issue legalized birth certificates

The Central Electoral Board (JCE) announced nine more Civil Status Offices are now part of the Project for the Elimination of the Legalization of Civil Status Records (ETLA).

The new offices entering the program are the 13th District of Santo Domingo East, the 15th District of Santo Domingo West, the 1st and 2nd Districts of La Romana, the 1st District of Santiago de los Caballeros, and the Districts of Mao, Valverde, San Juan de la Maguana and the 1st and 2nd Districts of Puerto Plata.

These records offices are added to the six already in force since the beginning of the ETLA Project in the National District, 1st District (Gascue), 10th District (Mirador Sur), Santo Domingo North, 7th District (La Victoria), Santiago de los Caballeros, 3rd District and in San Francisco de Macorís 1st and 2nd Districts.

Validated certificates issued in these offices will not require additional legalization, an extra cost in time and money for citizens.

The documents issued by the other official offices continue to require the traditional procedure.

The JCE explained that it will continue to inform the public about integrating the other records offices until it reaches the totality of its offices.
