Pension plan companies get to keep billions in savings of deceased people

Diario Libre reports today on the more than RD$2.34 billion in Pension Plan (AFP) savings of deceased persons that the would-be heirs have not recovered. As reported, red tape has made it difficult for the persons to claim the funds. The investigative report reveals that more than 42,000 deceased persons are still in the system. There are accounts of more than RD$4.6 million that relatives have not been able to claim. The situation is worsening with time.
