Judges reject use of Odebrecht executives’ confessions in the local corruption case

The First Collegiate Court of the National District rejected on Tuesday, 20 April 2021 the documents on plea bargaining of Odebrecht executives in the case. The court said the statements were presented in foreign languages and cannot be authenticated. The court argued that there is no purpose in quoting Marcos Vasconcelos Cruz, head of Odebrecht at the time in the Dominican Republic, and other executives of the construction company.

Meanwhile, lawyer José Miguel Minier maintained that, after the rejection of the privileged declarations, the state prosecutors should withdraw the accusation, as reported in El Nuevo Diario.
