The roster of the Dominican baseball team that will compete in the qualifiers for the Tokyo Olympics was announced on 19 May 2021. On the team are veteran Major League Baseball players José Bautista and Melky Cabrera, Julio Rodríguez, Emilio Bonifacio, Yeison Ascencio, Yefri Perez and Luis Liberato. The first qualifier (America’s Baseball Pre-Olympic) will take place 31 May to 5 June in Florida, USA.
The DR will participate in the qualifying round of eight teams together with Puerto Rico, the United States and Nicaragua, Venezuela, Colombia, Canada and Cuba. Mexico has already qualified for the Americas region.
The Americas Baseball Qualifying Event will take place 31 May to 5 June in West Palm Beach, Florida. There is only one ticket available for the Olympic Games in Tokyo this summer. However, the second and third place teams will go to a playoff to be held in mid-June in Taiwan.
