President Luis Abinader has declared the purchase, design contracts, equipment, service contracts, execution and acquisition of equipment to construct the fence between the Dominican Republic and Haiti to be an emergency for national security reasons. The President authorized the Defense Ministry to carry out the border fence’s construction by Decree 276-21. The border between the DR and Haiti runs over 350 kms.
