The spokesman for the block of deputies of the opposition Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), Gustavo Sánchez says the US$300 million loan the president of the Chamber of Deputies announced approved on Wednesday, 26 May 2021 by the Chamber of Deputies was done so in an illegal manner. The loan is to provide extra funds to the Abinader administration for the management of the Covid-19 pandemic. The PLD legislator said that the bill was approved when there were only 70 deputies present, when the presence of 96 legislators was required.
