Casting to begin for Spanish comedy

Veteran Spanish film director Javier Quintas will be shooting the comedy, “Vienes o voy” in the Dominican Republic. Quintas is best known for the successful TV series: “Money Heist: The Phenomenon” (La casa de papel). Producer Dani Vega convinced Quintas to choose the DR as the location for the film.

“I am from the Canary Islands, Spanish, but I said: – For me it would be a plus to be able to shoot my film in this land that I love so much and that I love so much as is the Dominican Republic. Also, the script deserves beaches and landscapes that you have, they are the best, and that’s why I said: – We are going to the Dominican Republic. Much of the filming will take place there and in the Canary Islands, because it is my homeland and I also want something of my own,” said Vega, the film producer.

Quintas will help decide on the missing cast. “There are a lot of actors that I admire a lot, incredible how Dominican cinema is growing, and I want some of that talent for my film,” said Vega. Among the artists already confirmed are Carlos Ponce, Gaby Espino, Alexis Valdés, Pastora Vega and Rubén Cortada.

The comedy is produced by directors José Enrique Pintor (Pinky), director and producer of films such as “Sanky Panky”, “Mañana no te olvides,” “Sol y Luna”, among others, and Miguel Ángel Poveda, producer of more than 600 films for The Walt Disney Company, Universal, Dremswoks… and winner of a Goya award.

Actor Álvaro Morte from “La casa de papel” was in the country recently filming a production called “Sin Límites.”
