
Aeropuertos Dominicanos Siglo XXI (Aerodom), a subsidiary of Vinci Airports, and the Eduardo León Jimenes Foundation signed an agreement to jointly develop activities to promote Dominican culture and art. Vinci Airports operates the Las Americas International Airport (Santo Domingo), the Gregorio Luperón International Airport in Puerto Plata International Airport, and the El Catey International Airport in Samana.
Works of art and historical pieces belonging to the Centro León and the Eduardo Leon Jimenes Foundation will be exhibited at the airports. Likewise, Dominican artists will be invited to work creatively on themes or concepts related to traveling and related objects, such as the suitcase and the airplane as pieces of art and exhibitions with attractive Dominican themes. Furthermore, the agreement also contemplates the offering of quality handcrafts and creative products with the Centro León seal.
The president of the Eduardo León Jimenes Foundation, María Amalia León; the executive manager of the Centro León, María Luisa Asilis and the general manager of Aerodom, Mónika Infante Henríquez signed the agreement.
Aerodom director Infante Henríquez said she was motivated by examples of how leading international terminals such as San Francisco, California; Istanbul in Turkey; Amsterdam in Holland and Shanghai in China have become spaces to share the national identity through visual art enhancing the traveler’s experience.
