In his eulogy to his mother, former President Leonel Fernandez spoke of her legacy at the wake held on 22 July 2021.
In his farewell to his mother, Yolanda Reyna Romero, Fernández spoke of her legacy. Doña Yolanda passed away on 21 July 2021 at the age of 94 after health complications from hip surgery following a fall. She was buried at the Cristo Redentor Cemetery.
“If my mother leaves a legacy, if she leaves any lesson, it is the fact that a single mother is not destined to failure per sé. What is required is dignity, sense of honor, love for her family, love for her neighbor and work. She achieved that. Therefore, she is a symbol of inspiration, not only for her family, but for all the Dominican people,” he said during the funeral mass officiated by Monsignor Victor Masalles at the Blandino Funeral Home.
Fernandez gave thanks for the solidarity received. He said his mom was a symbol of inspiration for many.
