Russian cosmonaut had the Dominican Republic on his mind as he cruised by viewing Earth from outer space on the Sojuz expedition. For a second time, Oleg Novitskiy posted on the country. This time he tweeted: “Dominican Republic, hello again! This time I captured its capital alone – Santo Domingo. This is the oldest city in the New World of all that have survived to the present day. It is located on the southern coast of the Dominican Republic.”
Novitskiy is on his third voyage. He had toured the Earth from the outer space in 2006, 2012 and now in 2021.
On 7 May 2021 he had tweeted:
“I looked out the window, and saw the most visited country in the #Caribbean — the #DominicanRepublic. This paradise on Earth impresses the guests for its fantastically beautiful views and nature, which amazes so much that one wants to become a part of it.”
At the time, President Abinader tweeted back on 8 May: “Thank you Oleg for your kind words and admiration towards our beloved Dominican Republic. We invite you to visit us as soon as you’re back from space.”
