Eduardo Estrella elected president of the Senate

As had been announced, Eduardo Estrella (Dominicanos por el Cambio-Santiago) was elected for a second consecutive term to preside the Senate. Despite the Tropical Depression Grace, the senators decided not to miss a day at work and installed the board of directors for the 2021-2022 term on 16 August 2021.

Other members of the presiding board are senator Santiago José Zorrilla (PRM-El Seibo) as vice-president, in addition to Ginnette Altagracia Bournigal (PRM-Puerto Plata) and Lía Ynocencia Díaz Santana (PRM-Azua) as secretaries.

The Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) announced their spokespersons will be senator Faride Raful (National District) and senator Alexis Victoria Yeb (Maria Trinidad Sánchez).

For the Dominican Liberation Party, Senator Aris Ivan Lorenzo Suero (Elías Piña) was chosen as spokesperson and Valentin Medrano (Independencia) will be the deputy spokesperson.

The spokesman for the People’s Force (FP) will be Senator Dionis Sánchez (Pedernales), and Franklin Rodríguez (San Cristóbal) will be the deputy spokesman.

On the same day, the Chamber of Deputies confirmed Alfredo Pacheco would again preside the lower house. The other presiding members of the Chamber of Deputies are Olfanny Méndez (PRM-Bahoruco), vice president. Nelsa Shoraya Suárez (PRM-Santiago), and Agustín Burgos (PRM-La Vega), repeat as secretaries.

The spokespersons for the parties as of 16 August 2021 will be: Social Christian Reformist Party (PRSC) — Rogelio Alfonso Genao, replacing Máximo Castro Silverio.

For the Dominican Revolutionary Party (PRD), Fior Daliza Peguero Varela will replace Héctor Darío Féliz. Mateo Espaillat for Dominicans for Change (DxC). The PQDC-BIS-PCR coalition will be represented by Miguel de los Santos, replacing Elías Wessin Chavez. Pedro Martínez of Alianza País (Alpaís) will replace José Horacio Rodríguez.
