
The National District (Santo Domingo) and Punta Cana are already curfew-free since 9 August. 14 days afterwards, the Ministry of Public Health says there has not yet been a spike in cases despite the removal of the circulation restrictions.
Other leading touristic destinations – La Romana, Juan Dolio and Puerto Plata – are lined up to be the next to enjoy curfew-free days. The areas already are under the relaxed protocol that benefits resort guests, but restaurants and bars outside the hotels have to close by 11pm.
According to the Ministry of Public Health, La Romana could be the next destination to become curfew-free. La Romana has 75.4% of its population with a first dose and 58.5% with two doses.
San Pedro de Macoris (Juan Dolio) follows with 72.2% of its population with a first dose and 58.7% with a full course.
Puerto Plata is nudging its way up and has 68.1% of its population with a first dose and 58.6% with two doses.
The Health Cabinet has announced that provinces that can show 70% of the population with a full course of vaccines will be considered for the removal of the curfew restrictions.
