
Dominican ambassador to Russia Hans Dannenberg says that new flights to more Russian cities are being added after the Covid-19 health committee in Russia cleared flights to resume to the Dominican Republic. The flights bring tourists and are essential for the transport of tropical produce to Russia.
The first Azur Air flights had begun to the La Romana International Airport in August, bringing tourists to the Bayahibe-Dominicus area. Now Azur Air is announcing flights from St. Petersburg, a northern city with more than 5.4 million inhabitants. Azur also has plans to add flights from Kazan, Yekaterinburg, Rostov-on-Dov (in southern Russia), Novosibirsk (capital of Siberia in eastern Russia), cities with populations of more than a million inhabitants.
The Russian tour operator Pegas Touristik reports it is selling travel packages in September to Punta Cana, Samana and Puerto Plata from Moscow. In October it will add flights from Ufa, Kazan and Novosibirsk.
