The National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (Intrant) increased the cost of almost 40 services.
As of 1 September 2021, those renewing their driver’s license (category 1) will have to pay RD$1,900 up from RD$1,100. The cost is RD$2,200 if the license has more than a year that it has expired; 3,300 if two years and 4,400 if it has a three-year expiration date. The license renewals are for a four-year duration.
The driver’s permit also has a steep increase in price, going from RD$2,000 to RD$2,900.
Somos Pueblo/Listin Diario report that the Intrant did not announce the increases on their information platforms. As of 3 September, the Intrant website had not updated the RD$1,100 cost for renewal of category 1 licenses.
