
An exhibit of the experiences of Venezuelan immigrants in the Dominican Republic is at the halls of Agora Mall, in front of Forever 21. “Caminos de Aprendizaje” tells the story of 13 Venezuelan teachers that migrated here. The exhibition has the backing of the International Migration Organization and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. An estimated 100,000 Venezuelans have migrated here in recent years, fleeing the political, social and economic unrest in Venezuela. This summer the Dominican government authorized a window for illegal Venezuelans to become temporary legal residents despite not being able to present the full documentation required. An estimated 43,000 Venezuelans have applied to the Plan de Normalización de Personas Venezolanas (PNV).
