More Dominican free zones

The National Council of Free Zones (CNZFE) announced a billion peso investment to be made by several new companies that are setting up shop in the Dominican Republic. These new export industries will add 1,200 formal jobs and generate around US$16 million a year in revenues.

According to the press release, the new free zone plants will process and pack fruits, vegetables, and even some shellfish. Recycling, pharmaceutical, apparel and traditional cigar manufacturing are also in the mix. Santo Domingo, Santiago and La Vega are some of the new sites for the new free zone industries.
