Barahona university rector promoted to head PUCMM

The Roman Catholic Church in the Dominican Republic announced Secilio Espinal Espinal is the choice for new rector of the Pontifical Catholic University Madre y Maestra (PUCMM). The PUCMM is the largest private university in the country

The Dominican Episcopal Conference (CED) appointed father Secilio Espinal Espinal to serve for four years. The appointment still needs the confirmation of the Holy See.

Secilio Espinal Espinal was born in northwestern Santiago Rodríguez province. He holds a doctorate in Education, concentration: Leadership in Higher Education from Nova Southeastern University in Florida, United States of America (2018-2021). In addition, he holds a Master’s Degree in Teaching and University Management from the Universidad Católica Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic (2016-2018); and an International Master’s Degree in University Management from the Universidad Alcalá de Henares, Spain (2013-2014).

He has served as rector of the Catholic University of Barahona (UCATEBA) since 2009. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the National Union of Catholic Schools (UNEC) since 2006 and is the treasurer of the Board of Directors of Radio Enriquillo, Diocese of Barahona, since 2015.
