Trillion peso budget for 2022

With just a few days to go before the start of the Christmas holidays, the Chamber of Deputies finally got around to passing the two readings on the 2022 National Budget. The budget for the first time is a trillion peso figure — RD$ 1,214,606,007,369. The bill authorizes the government to place RD$284 billion in local or foreign capital markets bonds.

Alfredo Pacheco, president of the Chamber of Deputies, said that the deputies approved additional amounts for the Supreme Court of Justice (RD$2.5 billion), Attorney General Office-Public Ministry (RD$1.5 billion) and Central Electoral Board (JCE) RD$750 million.

133 deputies voted yes, and only seven no (members of the Domincian Liberation Party (PLD) and of Alianza Pais.

The bill now moves to the Senate for passing. The ruling Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) is majority in the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies.
