Altice (formerly Orange) moves to improve service

The second largest telecommunications company operating in the Dominican Republic, Altice says it has committed a lot of money to improve communications in the areas of San Cristobal, Higüey, La Romana, La Vega and San Pedro de Macoris. The improved services will be both fixed and mobile. To ensure the program, Altice deposited US$5.1 million with the Dominican Telecommunications Institute as the first of four installments. On return, the company received the rights to 70 Megahertz (MHz) in the 3400MHz—3470MHz spectrum. This will enable 60 Mbps downloads in the new system.
