Drink away! Government relaxes restrictions for alcohol sales

The Ministry of Interior and Police is calling for prudence to avoid a Covid-19 outbreak and other unfortunate situations during the Christmas holidays. The call comes with the announcement of the extending for two hours of the sale and serving of alcoholic beverages in restaurants, bars and colmados. The government clears the sale now from Sunday to Thursday through 2am, and on Friday and Saturday through 4am for the Christmas holidays that end with the celebration of Three Kings Day, on 6 January 2022.

The director of the Alcoholic Beverages Control division of the Ministry of Interior & Police (Coba), Jose Sánchez Payano urged people to avoid crowds and called for the businesses to respect the preventive measures to avoid outbreaks and guarantee peace and calm.

He reminded business owners that the violation of rules in place would result in the temporary or definitive closing of the establishment and the cancellation of the licenses or permits.

The new hours will be in place for three weeks when the schedules will return to the Sunday to Thursday until 12 midnight and Friday and Saturday until 2am established in Decree 308-06.
