
Public Ministry and Police authorities have asked Alen Alexis Villalona to turn himself in. He is accused of beating a woman, Santa Arias whom he left unconscious on the sidewalk in Baní, Peravia on 31 December 2021. He fled and has not been located. The happening has been a trending topic in social media.
The victim, Santa Arias filed a complaint with the Gender Violence and Victim Attention Unit of the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Peravia against Alen Alexis Villalona. She accuses him of the beating that occurred following a traffic accident. According to her defense attorney Félix Portes, Villalona’s situation is aggravated because Villalona threatened her with a firearm.
The Criminal Investigations Agency of the National Police (Dicrim) is investigating the incident in which Arias was assaulted by the driver Villalona, who had previously rammed her motorcycle on a street in Baní.
According to a video circulating on social media after ramming the woman’s motorbike with his vehicle, the assailant entered into a brief struggle with her. The video shows him pulling out a firearm before slapping her.
Arias was rescued by a 911 unit and taken to the Nuestra Señora de Regla hospital in an unconscious state. The incident was recorded on video. Arias says people close to Villalona have contacted her with threats and offers to financially settle the dispute.
Villalona has been on the run for four days. The media reported on 4 January that the victimizer has not given any sign that he intends to turn himself in.
