On International Women’s Day, eight leading Dominican journalists joined Edith Febles and Carolina Santana, regular interviewers on El Dia on Channel 11, to interview President Luis Abinader on women-related issues.
The other journalists participating in the interview were: Patricia Solano, Edith Febles, Altagracia Salazar, Zenaida Mendez, Marien Aristy, Esperanza Ceballos and Martha Florian.
The President addressed several issues: domestic work, support to Dominicans in jail in the United States, social security reform, maternal morbidity, three grounds for abortion, health programs, budget for the independent judiciary, extinction of domain bill, impunity for corruption in his government, the piñata of government jobs culture, prostitution and the white slave trade, conflicts of interest in government, the proliferation of gambling centers (bancas), women’s shelters, among other topics.
