Reports are that a senior couple from France drowned on Saturday, 19 March 2022 in Juan Dolio, east of Santo Domingo.
Jorge Doniel and Mariel Renolle, 66 and 67 years old, respectively, were vacationing in a hotel in Juan Dolio, according to reports from the police and tourism authorities.
According to versions of people who were at the scene of the tragedy, the husband and wife apparently did not know how to swim and were dragged to deep waters by the strong currents.
It was said that the bodies of the two Frenchmen were recovered while the forensic authorities arrived. The corpses were later taken to the morgue at the Antonio Musa Public Hospital in San Pedro de Macoris for sending to France.
The case is under investigation by officers of the National Police and of the Specialized Tourism Security Corps (Politur), who work in the tourist area of Juan Dolio.
