The National Drug Control Agency (DNCD) reported over the weekend the seizing of 751 packages of a substance suspected to be cocaine in operations in La Romana and Boca Chica. In La Romana 290 packages of drugs were seized in a leisure yacht off coastal waters. There were no arrests. In Boca Chica, 461 packages were seized in a maritime-air interdiction operation, also off the coasts of Boca Chica. Two people were arrested.
The DNCD says that in the first three months of the year, almost seven tons of drugs have been seized, including 5,696 kilograms (5.6 tons) of cocaine.
