President Luis Abinader and Tourism Minister David Collado announced works on the Santo Domingo East boardwalk for RD$500 million. The Caribbean Sea-fronting boulevard is an important recreational space for residents in eastern Santo Domingo, the most densely populated area of Greater Santo Domingo. The avenue extends from the Armada installation on Av. España to the Las Americas Expressway.
The renovations will include widening the sidewalks to 6.50 meters to include a bicycle lane along the entire length of the coastline stretch. The project’s intervention of the waterfront includes signage in low relief, and the 2-lane, 2.50 m wide bicycle lane.
In addition, it includes a concrete scenic parador, pedestrian paths and improvements to the existing green areas and better lighting.
The Ministry of Tourism’s Executing Committee for Infrastructure in Tourist Zones (Ceiztur) is responsible for the initiative.
The activity was also attended by the main provincial and municipal authorities, including Santo Domingo province governor Julia Drullard and East Santo Domingo mayor Manuel Jiménez.
