Leonardo Cositorto, the leader of Generación Zoe, was arrested on Monday, 4 April 2022 in Juan Dolio in southeastern Dominican Republic by Interpol RD responding to a request from its counterpart in Argentina. The Interpol had ordered the international capture of the leader of Generación Zoe at the end of February. Spokesman for the Dominican Police, Diego Pesqueira told Listin Diario: “He was wanted on charges of fraud and illicit association in Cordoba, Argentina and similar crimes in Colombia. The foreigner is under Interpol custody. Cositorto was here hiding, yet he was traced thanks to his posts on social media.
Cositorto is investigated for pyramid schemes. The fact that he entered the country illegally is expected to expedite his extradition to Argentina.
According to Clarin, the Argentinean newspaper, Interpol agents showed up outside where Cositorto was staying in Juan Dolio. More than 40 of his victims have legally challenged him and new ones keep appearing every day, according to Clarin. “He tricked people into investing in an unviable financial system. It was the typical Ponzi scam, those people were going to get paid while new people came in,” the newspaper reports.
