
It was a harrowing drive back into the main cities after an unexpected trough developed, bringing heavy rains mainly to the northeast, the southeast, southwest and central areas. The Weather Office forecast is for the rains to continue this week. The rains have brought “chilly” weather, with mornings under 20-23 degrees Celsius forecast for most of the country
The Onamet issued a yellow alert for the provinces of Monseñor Nouel (Bonao), La Vega, María Trinidad Sánchez (Nagua), Monte Plata (Yamasá) and Hato Mayor. There is also green alert for Greater Santo Domingo, Santiago Rodríguez, San Cristóbal, El Seibo, Sánchez Ramírez (Cotuí), San José de Ocoa and Peravia (Baní). The authorities are monitoring flooding damage.
The Center for Emergency Operations says the forecast is for the rains to continue through Thursday, 21 April 2022.
