140 packages of cocaine in transit to Belgium seized at Multimodal Caucedo

The National Drug Control Agency (DNCD) with the support of the Military Security of the Multimodal Port of Caucedo and in the coordination with the Public Ministry seized 140 packages presumably of cocaine, in an interdiction operation at the Caucedo freight container port.

The anti-narcotics agents and military personnel, accompanied by canine units, carried out a verification operation to dozens of containers that had arrived from Chile and were in transit to Belgium. The inspection showed four packages with suspect cocaine in a load of refrigerated fruits.

N Digital points out that with this haul, the DNCD through 19 April has seized more than 2,279 packages of drugs, much of it cocaine. The Attorney General’s Office incinerated more than 1,000 kilograms of drugs, mainly cocaine, seized in different operations carried out in San Pedro de Macorís and La Altagracia provinces.

In total, 1,179.556 kilograms of different narcotic substances were incinerated at the premises of the Dominican Army in Pedro Brand, according to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif). The drugs incinerated are 1,100.499 kilograms of cocaine, equivalent to 93.30%, and 78.841 kilograms of marijuana, with 6.68%, 213 grams of crack, for 0.02% and 3 grams of ecstasy, representing 0.0003%.

The Attorney General’s Office highlighted in the press release that so far this year, 11,998.553 kilograms of drugs have been incinerated, most of them cocaine, with 9,472.310 kilograms.
