Mexican wholesalers are bullish on selling Dominican vacations

Mexican wholesale operators see great opportunities for their customers and are increasingly selling city and beach stays in Santo Domingo, La Romana and Punta Cana to Mexican travelers. A fam trip with executives of the important Mexican wholesale companies came as part of the activities scheduled for the Dominican Travel Exchange (DATE) in Punta Cana. The direct flights to Mexico City from Santo Domingo (Aeromexico), make it easy to travel between the two countries. Other airlines offer connections through Punta Cana with one stop.

As reported, the travel professionals completed a busy agenda of several days of tours of the Colonial City and Santo Domingo and inspections of leading hotels in Santo Domingo and the Punta Cana and La Romana beach areas.

The director of the Dominican Office of Tourism Promotion (OPT) for Mexico, Carolina Pérez, with the support of the Tourism Cluster and the Association of Hotels of Santo Domingo (AHSD) organized the fam trip of the Mexican wholesalers and tour operators.

The promotion also highlighted combining the visit to the capital city with side trips for ecotourism, nature, golf and congresses and incentives travel.

Fabeth Martínez, director of the Santo Domingo Hotel Association and Greicy Román for the Tourism Cluster promoted the capital city as a tourist destination combining leisure, culture, nightlife, history, gastronomy and MICE tourism.

The president of Turenlaces and an expert in event and congress tourism (MICE), Elizabeth Tovar hosted the Mexicans to show off the enormous potential that the capital city has with spacious and modern halls for events, congresses and meetings.

During a meeting at the Renaissance Jaragua Hotel in Santo Domingo, José Trawitz, general manager of Petra Operadora, a leading Mexican travel seller, highlighted Santo Domingo’s opportunities for the Mexican market also in cruise tourism and the good connectivity that this city has to offer in the Caribbean, the Ministry of Tourism reported.
