The Ministry of Education agreed to a 10% increase in wages for public school teachers on 16 May 2022. Public school children have lost several school days this year as the public school teachers mobilized to demand more pay. Public school teachers are among the best paid in the country, attracting thousands from the private school system with the better benefits.
The agreement reached with the Public School Teachers Association (ADP) establishes that the wage increase will go into effect in June 2022 and sets many other benefits. The agreement is signed by Education Minister Roberto Furcal and Eduardo Hidalgo, president of the ADP.
