President orders ministers to tell people what the government is doing

President Luis Abinader ordered his ministers and directors of government agencies to visit the provinces to meet with the community leaders and share with these what the government is doing in each municipality. President Abinader announced the promotional scheme has been designed, the agenda, the meetings and the points to be presented have been set. Vice President Raquel Peña, together with the ministers of the Presidency, Administrative of the Presidency, Public Works, Education and the National Health Service, among others, will be coordinating the meetings in the communities.

Administrative Minister of the Presidency Jose Ignacio Paliza is the president of the ruling PRM party, Public Works Minister Deligne Ascención is the secretary of organization of the PRM. Education Minister Roberto Furcal was the campaign manager for Luis Abinader in the 2020 presidential campaign.

During an expanded cabinet meeting on Wednesday, 18 May 2022, President Luis Abinader announced the program “The Government in the Provinces” seeks to bring his administration closer to the citizens.

“This program will be to talk about the government’s management and the works that the government is carrying out throughout the national territory and in all the provinces, where a minister or important official and civil servant goes to a jurisdiction,” explained the President.

He specified that in this approach the officials will talk about the aspects that work well, those in which improvements should be implemented and about the government’s plans in each of these communities.

President Luis Abinader is expected to seek reelection in the 2024 general elections.
