Promoting Dominican tourism in Colombia

Tourism Minister David Collado was in Colombia to negotiate deals for more travel to and from Colombia last week. He announced the opening of new routes.

“Great news for our tourism! We held an important meeting with Daniel Fajardo, vice president of Route Network of @Avianca, who guaranteed us the opening of more routes from Colombia to the DR, and from other Latin American countries to Punta Cana and Santo Domingo,” Collado said on Twitter.

Collado announced the country’s participation as country partner in the Colombian Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies (Anato) “The Anato Showcase 2023”.

Collado said that Colombia is the third country in the continent sending tourists to the Dominican Republic, after the United States and Canada. From January to April 2022, 62,151 Colombians traveled to the Dominican Republic. This compares with 28,535 in 2019, for a 118% increase.

Thousands of Dominicans are also taking advantage of low-cost fares to travel to Colombia, making it a two-way travel deal for both countries. Colombia Migration statistics indicate that from January to April 2022, some 23,927 Dominicans entered, that is, a growth of 129%, compared to the 10,403 in the same period of 2019.

Avianca and Wingo offer great fares that encourage groups of friends to go party and shop in Colombia, or for Colombians to come and enjoy Santo Domingo and Punta Cana resorts.
