Edesur Dominicana announced the completing of the third stage of the street lighting for the Malecon of Santo Domingo, the capital city’s 14 km sea-bordering boulevard. The third stage stretches from Núñez de Cáceres Avenue to the Club Sirio Libanés Palestino.
A Food Truck family recreational area is one of the beneficiaries. The president of the Maleconcito Food Truck Association says they are serving many more visitors and customers now that there is good lighting after nine years of little lighting.
Edesur says more than 300 new led lamps have been installed in the 125 new concrete light poles along almost nine kilometers of the 30 de Mayo Highway that goes west.
The president of the Mar Caribe Neighborhood Council, César Balvi said that the boardwalk had been in darkness for seven years, and greeted the work of Edesur on behalf of the more than 20 communities along the 30 de Mayo Highway.
Meanwhile, Milton Morrison, general manager of the electricity distributor said that Edesur’s public lighting initiative seeks to contribute to citizen security.
The first stage was from the Luperón Avenue overpass, on the 30 de Mayo highway, to the toll booth at Kilometer 12. The second stage was from the Luperón Avenue overpass to Núñez de Cáceres Avenue.
Initially, the company had announced that the works would be only from the Km 12 toll booth to Núñez de Cáceres Avenue. However, the project was extended to the Syrian-Lebanese-Palestinian Club.
