
In a little over two weeks, the government agencies in charge of curbing crime have made nearly 2,000 arrests and seized over 100 weapons along with 110,000 grams of illegal drugs. The patrolling of the barrios noted for their criminal activities were combed by mixed units of National Police and infantry elements of the Army, Navy and Air Force. Along the way, the agents recovered 15 stolen vehicles, seized another 600 vehicles that lacked essential documentation, and even detained eight vehicles for noise contamination. Nearly 20 vehicles were seized for further investigation.
But that was not all. The patrols checked over 110,000 motorcycles and some 27,688 were held because the drivers had none of the necessary documentation. The agents found over three dozen stolen motorcycles.
