After a riot broke out in the Anamuya prison on Monday, 11 July 2022, the general director of Penitentiary and Correctional Services, Roberto Hernandez, appointed Noel Toribio, as provisional manager of the Anamuya Correctional and Rehabilitation Center in Higüey. During the riot, inmate Víctor Manuel Marte Castillo was shot with a shotgun. Others were injured.
The head of the jail system, Roberto Hernandez, says that the facility was intervened to reestablish normality, detect the points of conflict and generate the necessary changes to improve the conditions of habitability and services.
