
Marileidy Paulino with 50.76 and Fiordaliza Cofil with 51.19 placed first in their heats to qualify for the semi-finals of the 400m during the Eugene, Oregon 2022 World Athletics Championship. The championship is second to the Olympic Games in importance on the track and field calendar.
The 400 m women semifinals will be on 20 July 2022 in the early evening. The first two of the three semi-final heats qualify for the finals plus the two fastest times. Marileidy Paulino will run in heat 3 and Fiordaliza Cofil in heat 2. The two were on the mix 4 x 400 m relay that already won the gold medal on the opening day of the championship.
Running for the Dominican Republic, Alexander Ogando also made the semi-finals in the 200m race. He clocked 20.01, a new national record. He was first in his heat. Teammate Yancarlos Martinez clocked 20.13 and made the semifinals, too. He was fourth in his heat. The 200m race will be on 19 July 2022 in the early evening.
