Alfredo Pacheco and Eduardo Estrella to keep at the helm of Congress

Legislators voted in favor of keeping Alfredo Pacheco (PRM-National District) as president of the Chamber of Deputies and Eduardo Estrella (Dominicanos por el Cambio-Santiago) as president of the Senate for the next year. The ruling Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) had the majority vote to decide.

The Dominican Liberation Party has positioned Juan Julio Campos as spokesperson. The People’s Force chose Omar Fernández as the party spokesperson. The same ruling political party announced Julio Furcal, brother of controversial former Minister of Education Roberto Furcal, will continue as spokesman for the ruling party in the Chamber of Deputies.

In the Senate, Franklin Romero will be spokesman for the PRM. The PLD is keeping Yván Lorenzo; and the Fuerza del Pueblo chose Dionis Sánchez.

Three political parties formed the Bloque Alternativo Progresista in the Chamber of Deputies to promote common commitments on various issues that impact Dominican society, they announced. The bloc is formed by deputies Pedro Martínez, of Alianza País; Aida Nilsa López Reyna, of the Liberal Reformist Party; and José Horacio Rodríguez of Opción Democrática.
