The Police is investigating the assault to the home of Cesar Diaz Filpo, a former Azua senator in the Santo Domingo. Diaz Filpo is the husband of the incumbent senator for Azua, Lia Ynocencia Diaz Santana for the ruling Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM). Lia Ynocencia Diaz was not home at the time.
The assault was carried out at the Torre Sherry IV, a high rise in Los Cacicazgos, an upscale residential area. The assailants left with a computer and other unidentified items.
Diario Libre published surveillance videos from the building with insights into the incident and the suspects of carrying out the assault on Cesar Diaz Filpo.
The assailants were in the apartment when the former senator returned from exercising. The thieves would gag Diaz Filpo and hit him on the head.
Surveillance videos show the entry of black SUVs to the Torre Shelley IV, two young men on the service stairs and how they are given entry to the apartment, and how one of the men leaves, picked up by a black SUV.
The spokesman for the Police, Diego Pesqueira is optimistic the assailants will be arrested soon.
