
Alfredo Pacheco, the speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, told reporters late last week that the deputies will be examining the results of the budget assigned to the Ministry of Education, currently at 4% of the Gross Domestic Product.
Diario Libre reports that the legilators will study the effects or results of the massive funding since 2012. To this end, the Chamber of Deputies has appointed a Special Committee.
Over the past 12 years, there has been no discernible improvement in the quality of education as per assessments to public school students and teachers, despite billions being injected into public education. According to Pacheco, all interested parties will have the opportunity to voice their position during the hearings.
