Marileidy Paulino and Fiordaliza Cofil scored, big time, in the Weltklasse (World class) Zurich track meet for the Diamond League. Paulino ran for a personal best of 48:99 in the 400 meter event and took home the US$30,000 cash prize.
Cofil, who finished second, took home US$12,000, which added to the US$10,000 she had won from last week’s Diamond League victory in the same event. Once again Cofil defeated her rival from Barbados, Sada Williams, her victim from the past week.
On the men’s side, Dominican Olympian Alexander Ogando, a recent silver medalist in the Mixed 4 x 400 at the Oregon World Championships, was third in the event in Zurich.
