The Presidency has allocated itself the second-largest chapter of the 2023 National Budget. In its analysis of the government budget breakdown, Diario Libre points out that in terms of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) percentage, the Ministry of Education is getting 4% and the Presidency 1.7%. 2023 is a pre-electoral year. Diario Libre points out that the funds allocated to the Presidency are more than the 0.9% of GDP assigned to public infrastructure construction in the 2023 National Budget.
The Presidency is allocated RD$119.33 billion, up RD$33.28 billion more, 38.7% than what was approved in 2022. Diario Libre reports that in the budget of the Presidency, public work infrastructure chapters are included, such as for the construction of bridges, access roads and mass transport allocations. The Presidency has allocated RD$65.23 billion, or 54.7% of the total to its Social Cabinet. This includes RD$30.69 billion to distribute food as part of the Alimentate section of the Superate social program.
